Preview and Prepare for Design Degradation with deCSS3

Aside from implementing user-minded navigation, text, graphics, and other elements of your homepage, how else can you ensure that your website is not only enticing and functional, but accessible to each and every one of your users? This is tricky as you cannot put yourself behind the computer and browser of each individual user that visits your site. Some will be using a brand new top-of-the-line laptop with high-speed wireless and all the latest flash players and plugins. Others might be accessing your site through a clunky eight-year-old desktop through a dial-up connection. Your users' browsing circumstances are out of your hands, but with deCSS3 you and your webmasters can have a much clearer picture of everything will load and look.

When assessing and enhancing the company sites of my Los Angeles website design clients, the redesign process is not automatically a matter of making home and inner pages more eye-catching and modern; oftentimes it is quite the reverse to make a site cleaner, easier to navigate, and tailored to convey that brand's distinct messaging. One basic factor of usability is how quickly and completely a site loads.

New, cutting-edge design tools emerge and get applied to websites each day, but that doesn't mean that everyone with an internet connection can access their products. Specifically, CSS3 is not supported many older browsers so it can cause loading problems. Now, with the bookmarklet deCSS3, you can view what your design will look like in older browsers to determine if you or your webmaster needs to remove or replace certain features so that your website loads in its entirety, functions as you intend it to, and looks its best.

You use the link above to test your site with deCSS3. It's free and available for Chrome and Safari.
