Push More Traffic to Your Website with Blog Polls

Supplying your company blog with fresh and engaging content that drives traffic to your site doesn't always require putting lots of time and research into a lengthy post. In fact, this Traffic Tuesday's tip is not only quick, simple, and free, it can even serve to do a little research your users for you. I'm referring, of course, to blog polls, and specifically to Wordpress's handy plugin that lets you create and post them easily.

We've all probably clicked on a website poll at some point. Lots of famous blogs have them because they're a great way of letting users actively voice their opinions on a variety of issues be they Occupy Wall Street, Los Angeles website design, or Ashton and Demi, and instantly see the results including their votes. Blog polls can address issues directly or indirectly related to your company, your field, or your site, so your topic possibilities are infinite. Be inventive and entertaining and they can garner you lots of relevant new visitors.

Polls can also help you gauge your website's visibility by the number of overall responses, which can demonstrate your popularity and credibility to other users if they number in many. This can motivate a casual visitor to poke around and take note of what else your brand has to offer instead of just bouncing.

Furthermore, you can use polls to learn a little more about your users and their preferences and priorities. This can be especially helpful if you ask them to vote on various features of your site, as well as what you have to offer prospective clients. You can learn ways to improve your homepage's navigation features, get ideas to develop new products and services people would like to see, and even use the input to come up with future blog content.

Version 2.62 of the Wordpress poll plugin is available for download from the site’s directory for free. It can be customized to suit a variety of templates, CSS styles, and other layout specifications.
