On Client Conversion and Visitor Tracking

The gang at LADezign found a great article by Micah Buchdahl titled, "Lead Generation for Lawyers: Converting Visitors Into Clients". This post reflects on an issue a lot of businesses, especially law firms: How to track visitors on your site and help turn them into clients? This is a complicated issue, but Buchdahl has a great approach.

He found that a big problem with tracking visitors was access to their information. If a client came into the firm, the business had no way of knowing when or even if they visited the site. Tracking visitor conversion to clients/customers is a huge part of running a successful website. High traffic can get you recognized, but if you aren't getting customers in real time from your website, your web design might be off.

Buchdahl suggest some great ideas to help keep track of visitors. For instance, he suggest a contact form that can be easily found on the site, so clients can reach them easier and the firm will have a record of how they were approached. He also suggests having visitors subscribe to your site to make them a part of your site's community. This will keep their information handy, while also making them feel more comfortable with approaching a firm.

One suggestion we might have would be to ask where the visitor found us, not just by asking over the phone as Buchdahl mentions, but on the contact form as well. This way you can not only have your visitors' information available, you will also get a key insight into how they found your site. Also, Buchdahl is right on target about making sure that's your firm's phone number is on every page, but perhaps you can go one step further and give visitors the ability to automatically Skype call you.

The most important thing to remember, as Buchdahl notes, is that you always keep disclaimer policies and the privacy of the visitor at the forefront of your mind.
Thanks for reading. Jason.
