Set up a Google Authorship profile

Here are instructions to set up a Google Authorship profile.
  1. Sign up for a Google plus account here https://plus.google.com/

    1. I would use a personal gmail or your corporate email (does not have to be a gmail account) because Google has an issue with new phantom accounts being created that spam authorship. If you have an established account it’s best to use that one.

  2. Make sure you have a clear headshot type photo and upload the picture to your google plus profile

  3. Make sure a byline containing your name appears on each page of your content (for example, "By Steven Levy").

  4. Make sure your byline name matches the name on your Google+ profile.

  5. Now go to this page and fill out https://plus.google.com/authorship  and fill in your email address.

  6. More details from Google are here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1408986?expand=option2

  7. This is the code that gets pasted in the meta area of the website where you publish content.

  8. <link rel="publisher" href="https://plus.google.com/###############/" title="CompanyNameHere" />
    <link rel="author" href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/#################/" title="JYourNameHere" />
