Alarm Clock Xtreme Nixes the Anguish of Early Rising

How do you get your days off to productive start? Getting up when we aim to instead of hitting the Snooze button five times is usually a good beginning, but the temptation to grab another ten minutes of rest can be strong when work or personal responsibilities have us stretched particularly thin. What's worse is that those additional Z's often don't make us feel that more rested, even when we get them by accidentally disabling our alarm clocks and oversleeping (it's okay, we all do it), because that piercing sound jolts us awake unnaturally. Funny how a free mobile app like Alarm Clock Xtreme beat the conventional nightstand clocks to a solution for this.

Given the typically early hours at which my Los Angeles website design company has me getting up every morning, my circadian rhythm is sort of naturally programmed by now, but I like to have an alarm set just to be safe. Then, one morning I found my faithful little nightstand clunker of over a decade was not going off. With a packed schedule, I knew I would not have time to stop at Best Buy for a replacement for a few days, so I browsed alarm apps and quickly realized that was one errand I could scratch off my list. There's thousands of wake-up apps out there, but I specifically like Xtreme.

A lot of alarm apps require way too many steps, which few of us feeling like dealing with as we hit the pillow past midnight. Setting Xtreme, on the other hand, was like learning to ride a bicycle. Open the app, adjust your wake-up time with pluses and minuses, and save. It retains frequently requested times or lets you set them to recur only on certain days to save you even more trouble. Also, the alarm function itself is designed with our physiology in mind. Instead of a dreadful, jarring sound that forces you (and probably your spouse and nearby pets) awake unpleasantly, Xtreme's sound (which can be any number of default ringers or even your favorite music) starts softly and gradually builds. Users note they feel more rested and less irritated when they're awakened in a such a way. Not that this app goes easy on you; Snooze is an option but it shows you the number of times you've already hit it to remind you the shower and espresso awaits. I don't think this download is something you need to sleep on.
